which Ereader should I get? Nook, Kindle or Sony?
I can’t make up my mind on which ereader to get? I want one that is easy to use, has long battery life, has lots of books inlcluding textbooks since I am going back to grad school and easy to read. I have seen all three in stores and I cant make up my mind. Any suggestions?
Look up the books you might be interested in.
I got mine several months ago and I picked the Nook over the Kindle. The Kindle was ugly to me with the keyboard. I hated the white matte finish and could just see that getting filthy. The screen was smaller than the Nook and the buttons more difficult to push.
The Nook has a touch screen and a lending feature. The Kindle has text reading program and works internationally.
I will say if I had it to do all over agian I would have picked the Kindle. I’ve been disappointed in the Nook so far. There are no travel books available on it yet. The free books that they are so proud of…well they aren’t books but only about 15-25 pg novellas. And nearly every one is porn. So I definitely wouldn’t let a kid download a book unsupervised since none have back cover descriptions so you download it before discovering that.
The Kindle has improved the problems. It’s now black and the screen is bigger. The also has far more books available on it. Most of the travel books I’ve been interested in were available on the Kindle but not the Nook.
The Kindle has textbooks and nonfiction, whereas so far the Nook is lacking nonfiction. Great for big time authors though.
The Nook is far more customizable. The different color backs you can get, different covers,
The Sony one is terrible. But it is cheap. So you can save $100 but it doesn’t last nearly as long. The few people I’ve known who got one had to replace it within a year. I played with it and didn’t like it at all.
I would recommend playing with it for a while. Borrow one from a friend. Kindle is now sold in Target. I saw a Sony one in Best Buy and you can download and play with the Nook. I’d come up with a list of about 15 books. What do you really want to download? What do you want to do with your reader? Then see if it meets your needs.
I’ll answer any questions about the Nook that you have.
