Archos Ereader

Should I get a tablet or the Nook?

My graduation gift is going to be a tablet of some sort hopefully so I’m wondering if the tablet is the way to go or a very glorified Ereader. I’ve been looking at the archos 101 and thinking thats the tablet to get for under 300 dollars but not sure about any type of reding to be done on it.
