Which is better for Ereader Screen?

I found 4 types of screen for ereader. Eink, Pixel Qi, eink and LCD, eink pearl. Whats the difference? and which is the best one for viewing images and reading?

E Ink is a type of electronic paper display produced by E Ink Corporation.

Their two biggest display technologies used in Ereaders are Vizplex and Pearl. Pearl is newer and provides 50% better contrast than Vizplex. E Ink Pearl displays can be found in Kindle 3’s and Sony Readers (PRS-350, PRS-650, PRS-950). E Ink Vizplex displays can be found in Nooks, Kobos, Cybook Gen3s, and Cybook Opus’s.

Pixel Qi Corporation produces LCDs that can operate in transflective mode, requiring less back-light than regular LCDs, or reflective mode, requiring only external light (like E Ink displays). It’s not caught on yet with any major ereaders or tablets. Unlike E Ink displays, which only consume power when pages are turned, Pixel Qi displays do consume power in both modes.

E Ink and LCD hybrid technology has appeared in Apple patents but not yet in any major device.

Which is best? Well, the only real choices at the moment used in major devices are backlit IPS LCDs, backlit TFT LCDs, E Ink Pearl, and E Ink Vizplex. Of those, E Ink Pearl is the best technology for long-run reading, followed by E Ink Vizplex because of Pearl’s higher contrast ratio. Both E Ink displays are better for long-run reading because of their paper-like visual quality compared to LCDs. Backlit IPS LCDs (found in iPads and Nook Colors) are best for color graphics, apps, games, and web browsing. They’re about as tolerable for long-run reading as a computer monitor is.
