Is it important for your e reader to have all the bells and whistles or work great as an e reader?

I have been reading reviews on e readers and the negative ones are because the extra stuff doesn’t work as fast or like a computer or ipad. I want an Ereader for the books I don’t collect not all the other stuff. What is most important the ones with all the bells and whistles or the ones that are good for Ereaders and reasonable priced?

Only buy an strict (E Ink) ereader if you’re into serious, long-run reading. For all other applications, the experience is disappointing, and the need is much better met with a tablet.

Notice that the LCD-based ereaders do much better at beyond-reader functions (but fair poorly in long-run reading). The Nook Color is a good choice if these other functions are more important to you. Higher-end tablets are another possibility:
