What Is The Best Ereader for a college student?

Ive been researching Ereaders recently and want to find the best one for college this fall. I dont want an ipad because those are pretty expensive. I have looked into a entourage pocket edge which seems very good but im not sure i can use amazon’s renting etextbooks with it like the kindle can. I need something that i can take notes, easy to use, good screen, and well make it college textbook friendly. So what type of ereader is best??

A laptop or netbook combined with software ereader applications may work out best overall if you’ll be wanting to use your new device for writing notes and papers. Ereaders are only good for brief text entry.

If you’re set on getting an ereader, it’d be prudent to wait until you know your book requirements as there is no clear consensus regarding which ereaders are better for college right now.
